Kunst, vivisectie en het huwelijk. Over Victor van M.G.L. van Loghem (1888)
Abstract - The novel Victor, written by M.G.L. van Loghem,
was characterized by his contemporaries as a mixture of conventional and
modern, ‘impressionistic' prose. The author succeeded in re-evaluating
the theme of Don Juan in connection with a romantic conception of the artist.
His reference to a play of Octave Feuillet, Dalila, makes it possible
to compare the novel to Busken Huet's Lidewyde.
