Fonologie van het Nederlands: een overzichtsartikel
Abstract - This article aims to provide a (non- exhaustive) overview
of the 'state of the art' in the study of Dutch phonology in the Netherlands.
Strikingly, this field of study is homogeneous to a considerable degree,
since most of its researchers are involved in the theoretical framework
of generative phonology. Separate sections deal with the major branches
of this view: metrical phonology (stress and syllable structure), autosegmental
phonology (assimilation), lexical phonology (phonology-morphology interface),
and prosodic phonology (sandhi). A final section concludes that this linguistic
area is highly internationalised, but concentrated in departments of general
linguistics and modern languages rather than Dutch language and linguistics.
