Der Frieden als höchstes Gut. Jan de Marres Jacoba van Beieren (1736)
Abstract - In his play Jacoba van Beieren (1736) Jan de Marre adopted a position between enthusiasm for the national resistance to foreign tyrants and a more realistic political view: only a strong political power will be able to preserve the peace. Purpose of this article is to show some interesting correspondencies between the ideas of De Marre and the theories of Hugo Grotius, set down in his De iure belli ac pacis.
