Slauerhoffs 'Larrios' en 'Het eind van het lied'. Zoeken met en zonder einde
Abstract - The author analyses two famous stories of the poet and
novelist Jan Slauerhoff, 'The end of the song', and, especially, 'Larrios'.
He argues, against W.J. Lukkenaer and L.J.E. Fessard, that 'Larrios' is
not a moralising story and not about woman in general. It is a romantic
dream about various women, almost all prostitutes, which the protagonist
wants to save from misery. His imagination dictates the meaning of what
is happening and his final disillusionment. The mysterious 'The end of
the song' is apparently about the search for a woman with whom the protagonist
seeks reunion in death.
