'Een nektardoos en avontslaatje'. Liefdesgedichten van de predikant Joannes Vollenhove
Abstract - Joannes Vollenhove, a respectable minister of the Residence
city of The Hague between 1665 and 1705, is known as a poet for his Poëzy,
a collection of learned religious poetry and occasional poems. In this
article another side of this minister-poet is brought to light: the four
poems dealt with here show a poet in love who wrote verses brimming with
frivolities and intimacy for both his first and second wife. The manuscript
of these love poems has survived to this day, but only in handwritten form.
The poems were not included in the Poëzy, presumably because
of their personal nature or their technical shortcomings.
