Een sneeuwbui in het Zoniënwoud
Middelnederlandse geestelijke letterkunde ten tijde van Jan van Ruusbroec

Abstract - This article considers the textual evidence for a varied spiritual Middle Dutch literature during the years in which the famous mystical author Jan van Ruusbroec wrote his first treatises. It is shown that in several ways the new forms and contents of these works are influenced by texts and ideas that were known by the laity and the religious. It is therefore possible to describe some features of Ruusbroec's urban milieu and audience.
