 De motivatie van het offer van Ifis. Een reactie op de Jeptha-interpretatie van F.-W. Korsten

Abstract - This article discusses F.-W. Korsten's Jeptha interpretation, recently presented in this journal (115 (1999), p. 315-333). It argues that Korsten's analysis, which is to be considered as a 'modern-rhetorical' reading, is fundamentally non-historical. Therefore his opinions are by no means compatible with the so-called historicizing paradigm, which dominates research in seventeenth-century Dutch drama.
