Abstract - In the Amsterdam University Library, a manuscript by Ludolph Smids (1649-1720) can been found which offers a multitude of poetical ideas, especially on drama theory. This manuscript dates from an early period (ca. 1678) in Smids's literary career and is of considerable importance due to the huge number of examples which clarify the poetical theory given.
