Quidam sermones. Mystiek proza van de Ferguut-kopiist (Brussel, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, hs. 3067-73)
Abstract -- In this article a new finding of the so called ‘Ferguut-kopiist’ (scribe of the Ferguut) is discussed. Apart from a copy of the Middle Dutch translation of the Old French Fergus, fragments of four other manuscripts by the ‘Ferguut-kopiist’ have been found over the last twenty years. All known manuscripts contain epical texts written in verse. The recently identified codex is Brussel, KB, ms. 3067-73, also known as ‘Ruusbroec manuscript Vv’. In two booklets the scribe copied seven spiritual prose texts. Based on the new finding a place of residence is proposed for the scribe: somewhere around Brussels. This article also suggests that he was a professional scribe. Both conclusions are based on codicological and philological observations.
