Ik, uw dichter? Nederlandse dichteressen in de tijd van Vijftig

Abstract -- This article investigates within the framework of the polysystem theory the poetical views of Dutch female poets in the period between 1945 and 1960, a period when Dutch poetry was revised and revolutionized. The aim of this investigation is to determine the position of these poets in the contemporary dominant system, and to substantiate the claim for a separate system for women’s literature (Meijer 1988). The main conclusion is that female poets hardly made any poetical statement, be it experimental, dominant or female. The meaning of this finding is discussed.
