Literatuurgeschiedenis als historische roman
Over een historiografische speurtocht naar de kiemcellen van de experimentele poëzie in de literaire tijdschriften tussen 1941 en 1951
Abstract -- Between 1989 and 2001, the literary historian Piet Calis published four books on literary magazines for young people that appeared between 1941 and 1951. In these books he not only tried to reconstruct the immediate previous history of the ‘fifties movement’, he attempted to sketch a picture of that period as well. The result of his attempts however, is not entirely convincing. His description of the previous history and poetical context of the fifties movement is too global and incomplete. His view on the period is too narrow since it is based on the description of 18 magazines of different importance to literary history. The reception of his literary history reflects the ambiguity of his approach.
