Notities bij de Walewein
Abstract -- The only existent complete manuscript of the Walewein dates from 1350. It is generally treated, however, as if it were the original version created by Penninc around 1200. No one would want to deny that the text mightcontain alterations by narrators and scribes, but this vague awareness does not affect the scholarly praxis. In this article I will demonstrate that the Walewein we are familiar with, is a strongly adapted version. The changes are easy to find and clearly develop throughout the book. Therefore, we cannot but conclude that many narrators, scribes and correctors have had a hand in the text.
