De leugen regeert. Vlysses’ argumentatiestrategie en Polyxena’s offerdood in Costers tragedie

Abstract -- The aim of my contribution ‘The lie reigns. Vlysses’ argumentation strategy and Polyxena’s sacrifice in Coster’s tragedy’ is to show the influence of argumentation on the continuation of the action. Coster’s tragedy Polyxena consists of three stories. In the third story Vlysses deceives the other dramatis personae to reach his aim: the sacrifice of the Trojan daughter. He offers them unreliable reasons, which lead them to incorrect conclusions and then to wrong deeds. By analysing this third story I demonstrate how the argumentation governs the action. For the description of the argumentation I use the Toulmin-model.
