Niels-Erik LarsenGentse grafeemstudies Abstract -- In the article the vocalic grapheme systems of five scribes from the East-Flemish town of Ghent are compared. The texts span a period of more than sixty years, the oldest one being the statutes of the Leper Hospital from 1236. The five systems do not represent a continual diachronic development in the sense that the oldest text have a primitive system in comparison with the younger texts. Nevertheless the youngest systems expose greater phonemic detail and a more consequent indication of vocalic length. TNTL 121-2 (juni 2005), 131-148 | ||||||||||
