Rob van de SchoorHet verschil tussen cursief en romein. De kunstbeschouwingen van J.A. Alberdingk Thijm en S.J. van den Bergh in De Spektator (1843-1850) Abstract -- A survey of review articles in De Spektator van tooneel, koncerten en tentoonstellingen (1843-1850), reveals diverging ideas about poetry, drama, music and art: a divergency caused by the troubled friendschip between its two editors, Sam Jan van den Bergh (1814-1868), a Protestant poet, inspired by Holland's history of freedom and tolerance, and his Roman Catholic antagonist Jozef Alberdingk Thijm (1820-1889), an advocate of idealism in art. Whereas at first they were in league with each other their relation deteriorated, however, partly as a result of the changing political en religious conditions in the Netherlands.
